New Istanbul Airport

New Istanbul Airport
Istanbul Airport was inaugurated on October 29, 2018 to coincide with Turkey’s National Day, which has not yet been named.

The airport has a capacity to accommodate 90 million passengers annually and is currently one of the top 10 airports in the world.

Istanbul Airport will be gradually completed and is expected to be operated in four phases, which, if completed, can accommodate up to 150 million passengers per year and even increase the number to 200 million per year.

Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta Airport is currently the world’s busiest airport with a capacity of 104 million passengers annually, making it the first full-fledged airport in the world to operate if Istanbul Airport is fully operational.

In terms of capacity, Istanbul’s largest competitor is El Maktoum Dubai, which opened in 2011 and is expanding.

The airport is expected to have a capacity of 120 million.
